Read to Feed parent letter

As part of EtonHouse Wuxi’s ongoing desire to develop open minded, pharmacy inquiring and knowledgeable young people who are actively involved in caring companionably and responsibly, we are launching the “Read to Feed” initiative.

Read to Feed is a reading fundraising incentive run by Heifer International, (www.heiferchina.org ) where students get sponsors for each book, chapter or page that they read during a four week period.  The end of the four weeks coincides with our Spring Carnival.  All the money raised by the students at EtonHouse Wuxi will be donated to Heifer China to be used to help families around China reach self reliance.

The Heifer China project promotes self-sufficiency and community development in rural areas.  At present it is running throughout the Sichuan, Anhui, and Xinjiang Provinces with 141 projects that have provided 5,300,257 gift animals and conducted 18,624 training workshops to lift 89,404 needy families out of poverty, this also assists families in providing education for their children.

The EtonHouse Wuxi students and the entire campus community will be participating in daily “Drop Everything and Read” time at school and will also have the opportunity to buddy read with another class. Please look at the display in our foyer to see our reading progress.

The big question is: How many books can we read to help feed people in China?

We greatly appreciate the support of our parents, family members and friends.

All student will receive:

- a book recording sheet to record the books or chapters they have read

-a sponsorship recording sheet- please complete in full

-stickers to be given to sponsors

Please do not hesitate to contact your SCL if you have any additional questions and please have a look at the website www.readtofeed

With much thanks
